This Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Consulting Business Development Manager to join our team! You will implement and manages sales, marketing, and business development strategies, including client relations, lead generation, proposals, and the overall sales cycle. You will also drive the Commercial Consulting Program achievement of its customer acquisition and revenue goals. As the Business Development Manager, you will need to maintain a sufficient balance of prospects in the pipeline to ensure continuity of sales. This position offers a competitive base salary along with a generous commission package.
Your Key Responsibilities

Responsible for generating new sales accounts pertaining to our diverse service lines, but primarily focusing one the following:
- Asbestos and Industrial Hygiene
- Investigation and Remediation
- Real Estate and Development
- PFAS and other emerging contaminants
- Leverage and market our existing master IDIQ contracts and master service agreements (MSAs).
- Identify potential strategic hires and new services lines to pursue based on market intelligence.
- Navigate company structures to get past gate keepers and influence decision makers.
- Develops and maintains sales strategies, gathers, and evaluates customer research, market conditions, competitor data, and will implement plan changes as needed.
- Attend and participate at industry related trade shows & networking events
- Continuously build, partner & manage strong relationships with key players/decision makers in our industry
- Monitor, review, and report all new sales activity and results through CRM.
- Generate marketing and campaign lists and pipelines utilizing CRM.
- Create CRM sales territories to map existing customers and potential targets. Use this to coordinate with other BD managers and service line leaders to create an integrated customer sales touch strategy.
- Meet and exceed sales goals!
- Engage in problem solving by performing analysis, technical writing, & recommendations to clients by partnering with Project Managers
- Partner with staff to prepare sales & marketing related deliverables, meetings, and submittals, as well as attending client meetings.
- Partner with other Business Development leads at Bay West to identify potential new opportunities for environmental services with existing clients.
- Effective communication and collaboration with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in a Technical Field such as Environmental Engineering, Geology, or Chemistry
- Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience developing and closing new sales accounts within the environmental services industry
- Strong experience generating new business, account management and technical proposal development required
- Excellent verbal and written presentation skills
- Ability to overcome critical sales objections
- Strong business relationship building skills a must
- Strategic sales planning experience
- Outstanding attention to detail & follow-up skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Sales Training or Certified Sales Professional certification
Travel Requirements
This position will be based out of Bay West’s home office in St. Paul, Minnesota. Travel throughout the United States is expected and can be up to 30% of time and includes overnight travel.
