What We're Looking For
We are seeking a family outreach program manager to help strengthen our efforts to reach, support, and resource families of English learners and bilinguals with disabilities. This position involves coordinating family and community outreach activities that equip parents and caregivers with effective strategies, practical resources, and relevant training at the intersection of disability and language. Key activities include conducting a family-based needs assessment, leading workshops on home, school, community partnerships, creating parent toolkit, and maintaining a website—all focused on resourcing families of English learners and bilingual students. Project LEER! is an interdisciplinary project focused on supporting families, students, and teachers of English learners and bilinguals with disabilities. The project is funded through the Office of English Language Acquisition (OELA) and the position is affiliated and housed within the Baylor Center for Developmental Disabilities. 

The Baylor Center for Developmental Disabilities invests in research, training, outreach, and clinical services that promote the flourishing of people with disabilities, their families, and communities. The Center hosts a growing number of programs, clinics, projects, and events focused on supporting individuals with intellectual disability, autism, and an array of other developmental disabilities. Likewise, we are committed to helping schools and communities welcome and support the full participation of people with disabilities and their families.

A bachelor's degree, one year of relevant experience, and fluency in Spanish are required. 
A master's degree and one year of relevant experience is preferred. 
A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of the degree requirement.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-based context
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and execute multiple tasks while meeting required deadlines
  • Confidence and ability to speak to and with economically diverse audiences
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish  
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Knowledge of special education and/or disability services  
  • Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse individuals with disabilities
  • Passion for helping students with disabilities and their families thrive  

A valid Driver License with a clear driving record of at least two years is required. 

Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States on a Full-Time basis. 

What You Will Do

  • Managing inquiries and correspondence regarding community and family resources
  • Developing disability, law, and language resources and toolkits for families
  • Carrying out family needs assessments  
  • Identifying resources and building family support networks  
  • Leading trainings, workshops, and other community events
  • Building and maintaining strong partnerships with diverse communities
  • Meeting regularly with faculty leadership on strategy and progress of outreach activities
  • Ensuring grant project family related activities are completed in timely and effective ways
  • Assisting with recruitment for studies, trainings, and other projects
  • Contributing to dissemination activities related to family outreach and support
  • Ensuring all of our materials are language and disability accessible, engaging, and culturally responsive 
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor’s mission
  • Ability to comply with University policies
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance
