What We Are Looking For

Baylor University is seeking an Instructional Support Specialist to support the mission and vision of the University within the division of University Libraries. The Instructional Support Specialist is an active member of the Library and Academic Technology Services’ (LATS) Learning Design Team, reporting to the Manager of Instructional Support. Collaborating closely with the Learning Design team, faculty, and other key stakeholders, this role provides ongoing essential maintenance and implements necessary revisions to Graduate Professional Education (GPE) online and hybrid courses. The successful candidate will showcase expertise and proficiency in applying learning theory, design models, and best practices to assess and improve online learning experiences for Baylor students. The Instructional Support Specialist adheres to OLC OSCQR quality standards and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 in order to promote meaningful and diverse connections in the online learning environment.

A Bachelor’s Degree and one year of relevant work experience is required. A Master’s Degree and three years of relevant work experience is preferred. A combination of experience and education will be considered in lieu of one another.

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

What You Will Do

  • Collaborate with faculty to identify, design and develop iterative course enhancements and to ensure updates are implemented in a timely and accurate manner, to include new course content, update to existing content, copying courses and updating master course templates
  • Attend to details in course materials to verify accuracy and consistency of information presented to learners and to ensure accessibility standards are met
  • Manage multiple tasks/projects in a team-oriented environment
  • Provide one-on-one training for GPE faculty on course implementation and academic technology use in online and hybrid courses
  • Create or contributing to new or revised technical training materials for faculty or students as needed
  • Serve as primary point of contact for faculty concerning issues related to course technology, accessibility and functionality
  • Assist faculty with periodic quality review of course materials and implement incremental Canvas course revisions, such as the addition of new content, building a revised assessment or updating the tool used for an activity
  • In cooperation with GPE online programs, develop unique course readiness plans to ensure courses are ready for launch each trimester
  • Make iterative changes to course readiness plans as conditions change with the number of courses, new faculty, and changing needs
  • Maintain working knowledge of current and emerging technologies, taking into account the implications for technical integration with Canvas
  • Maintain working knowledge of trends and issues facing higher education and how instructional design can enhance student learning experiences
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylor's mission
  • Ability to comply with University policies
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance

The budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $55,000 - $60,000. 

The full salary range for this position classification is $51,569.56 - $85,089.77. 

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certification, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs.
