Bayou City Dermatology is currently hiring for a Medical Receptionist!
Medical Receptionist is of the first contact a patient has with our office; therefore, it is important to provide a cheerful, positive, polite, professional, tactful, clean and friendly manner at all times. Promptness in answering phones in a friendly, but efficient manner and an ability to speak clearly and concisely is required. The employee must be able to multitask as he/she will be working with several applications simultaneously and attention to detail is paramount.
Electronically creating new patient accounts, updating existing accounts, scheduling, confirming and/or canceling appointments is the primary function of this position in addition to answering questions and directing incoming callers to the appropriate department.
A successful Medical Receptionist must be a team player and respectful of his/her co-workers.
Hours: Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 5:00 p.m with an hour lunch.
Requirements:
- EMR Experience
- Highschool Diploma or GED
- Must be able to accurately communicate information to and from patients, providers, coworkers and/or insurance companies.
- Correct spelling and grammar.
- Attention to detail.
- Compassion and care in dealing with others.
- Prioritization of tasks.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to utilize internet for company approved websites.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Outlook software.
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
As assigned, but not limited to the following:
- Electronically creating new patient accounts and updating existing accounts.
- Scheduling, confirming and/or canceling appointments requested by new or return patients and medical office referrals via telephone or facsimile.
- Assisting incoming callers with general questions and directing to a department accordingly.
- Taking paper or electronic messages for providers, their nurses or other departments.
- Check voicemail and return calls/direct messages accordingly.
- Stay abreast of scheduling guidelines for all providers.
- Maintain education and understanding of HIPAA guidelines; protect patient confidentiality.
- Assist other departments with overflow when needed and to the extent training allows, including, but not limited to: patient check in, verifying benefits, collecting payments, etc.'

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
