Job Title: Assistant Director, Youth Community Services

Location: Columbia, Missouri

Job Overview: We are seeking a strong and dedicated Assistant Director to join our dynamic Youth Community Services team in Columbia, Missouri! In this role, you will coordinate service programs, drive department growth, and assist with the hiring and training of staff. You will participate in quality assurance processes and serve as a liaison to area providers and referral sources. Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the supervisors of the community based teams. Oversee productivity expectations for these teams. Monitor program requirements and chart deficiencies. Provide ongoing training/coaching to team supervisors through a trauma-informed lens.  Provide guidance for and witness to HR issues such as interviewing for open positions, counseling and discipline, and leave.

  • Within limits of experience, educational background, and Burrell time commitments, presents educational material to promote community understanding of mental health and to enhance community response to mental health problems. Participates in Training of Trainers’ sessions as deemed necessary by the System Director of Youth Training and Consultation.

  • Carries a limited caseload, as needed, to provide individual, group and family therapy utilizing his/her experience and ability to meet the needs of the client and the goals of treatment, and engages in any other activities that meet those needs and goals. 

  • Is responsive to all Quality Assurance procedures of Burrell, cooperates with utilization review procedures, and follows established procedures, rules and regulations of the Clinical Records Department.​

  • Provide licensure supervision for up to 3 provisionally licensed clinicians within the department, if eligible under Missouri LPC or LCSW regulations.

  • Participates in and contributes to the various staff development activities of Burrell. Identify training needs for case management staff; create training to meet needs; provide ongoing training to Youth Services Department. Implements trainings in conjunction with the System Director of Youth Training and Consultation.

  • Participates in emergency services in order to provide rapid aid in cases of emotional crisis.

  • According to Burrell guidelines, participates in staffing of clients to identify problems and establish goals and objectives for treatment and assumes management responsibilities for cases assigned.

  • Is sensitive and responsive to management needs, such as data collection, program evaluation, development of grant applications, maintenance of various contracts for services, etc.

  • Performs other special functions as assigned or deemed necessary by the department.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social Work or related field – Preferred OR a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work or other related human service specialized field of study WITH an additional 3 years of experience providing community support services specific to the population supervisor will be supervising.
  • Licensure as LPC, LCSW, PLP, LP, or PsyD/PhD (required).
  • Experience working with youth and families in home and school settings.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention and family education methods.
  • Extensive skills in child/adolescent observation and assessment.

Other Qualifications:

  • Burrell Behavioral Health requires drivers of licensed company vehicles and those using their own vehicles for business purposes have the appropriate driver’s license, insurance coverage, and meet the auto liability carrier’s driver’s criteria.
