What We Are Looking For:

We are looking for a highly motivated, knowledgeable, and versatile individual to join our leadership team out of our Louisville, CO office. This role will work closely with our leadership team and clients throughout the country to assist in the growth of BDI’s existing core service offerings as well as to develop new services associated with this person’s area(s) of expertise. The ideal candidate is an experienced bridge engineer with expertise in inspection, maintenance, preservation, and overall management of state-owned infrastructure assets.  This individual should also be strategically minded, willing and excited to develop strategies for overall business line growth, development of improved processes and efficiencies for both field and business operations and be recognized as a national leader within these areas of expertise.

What You’ll Do: 

  • Work with the Senior Vice President (SVP) to develop strategies for short, mid, and long term growth of BDI as an industry leader in heavy civil infrastructure asset inspection, preservation, and management.
  • Work to promote yourself, and BDI through association, as a nationally and internationally recognized infrastructure inspection, preservation, and asset management expert.  
  • Be a member of industry association (AASHTO, TRB, ACI, etc.) committees to have a voice in driving the direction of new policy, research, and guidance.
  • Develop in house staff, policies and procedures, and organizational direction to meet the nation’s existing and future infrastructure inspection needs.
  • Work with the business development team to position BDI for long term growth in these areas by working directly with state owners on how they can use existing methodologies and advanced technologies to provide a more effective and efficient solution for their needs.
  • Drive the BDI bridge inspection program and be responsible for establishing policies and procedures that affect the inventory and inspection of all bridges on publicly owned and operated roads to meet or exceed the compliance requirements of the 23 CFR 650.301 of the NBIS, SNBI, and the AASHTO MBE.
  • Lead and develop a team of bridge inspectors and team leaders to manage state bridge inspection programs.
  • Identify appropriate senior level staff to manage the day-to-day operations of the bridge inspection program such that you can work to grow BDI strategically through innovative thinking, marketing, and outreach.
  • Maintain public safety and confidence, protect public investment, provide bridge inspection program support, maintain accurate bridge records, and fulfill legal responsibilities.
  • Responsible for certifying that that bridge inspection program participants have the proper credentials and approve their experience justifications.
  • Provide overall leadership and be available to all peers and subordinates to provide guidance and mentorship.
  • Perform other associated duties as assigned.

What You Need to Be Successful:

  • Expert level knowledge of structural inspection and/or design of conventional and complex bridges including cable-stayed, suspension, truss, and movable structures.
  • Expert level knowledge of infrastructure inspection, preservation, and asset management.
  • Experience managing state, local, or federally owned infrastructure assets.
  • Excellent technical writing, organization and communication skills.

Qualifications:

  • Willing to travel 25% for your job duties
  • Have a minimum of 20 years of experience inspection, preservation, and asset management of heavy civil infrastructure  
  • Professional Engineer in the state of Colorado
  • Valid driver’s license with acceptable record to drive company vehicles
  • SPRAT L1 Certification or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire

Benefits and Compensation:

Salary Range: $165,000 - $185,000 per year
