About the Role
As the Financial Controller, you will play a critical role in managing the company’s financial health, overseeing accounting operations, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and providing financial insights to support business growth. This is a hands-on leadership position that requires deep expertise in construction accounting, financial reporting, and operational finance.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Develop and maintain job costing and project profitability analysis to track financial performance.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and construction industry financial standards.
- Manage WIP (Work-in-Progress) reporting, cash flow analysis, and financial risk assessment.
- Collaborate with project managers to monitor costs, margins, and financial outcomes.
- Lead the month-end and year-end closing processes, preparing accurate financial statements.
- Establish internal controls and best practices to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and financial institutions.
- Oversee payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities.
- Support executive leadership with strategic financial planning and decision-making.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
- 5 years of experience in financial management, preferably within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of construction accounting, including job costing, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion revenue recognition.
- Proficiency in construction ERP software (e.g., Sage 300, Viewpoint, Procore, or similar).
- Advanced knowledge of GAAP, tax compliance, and financial regulations.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and provide strategic recommendations.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with experience managing a finance team.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, project-driven environment and collaborate across departments.
