Role Description
This is a full-time role for a Financial Controller at NorthEast Extracts in Penn Yan, NY, with flexibility for some remote work. The Financial Controller will be responsible for handling financial statements, utilizing analytical skills, financial reporting, accounting, and overall financial management tasks to ensure the company's financial health and compliance. This pivotal role will be instrumental in ensuring financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, and strategic decision-making.
Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Prepare and analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay abreast of evolving cannabis regulations in New York State and ensure compliance with all applicable laws, rules, and standards.
- Accounting Operations: Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledgers.
- Tax Compliance: Manage tax planning and compliance, including federal, state, and local taxes.
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Develop and manage annual budgets and forecasts, monitor performance, and analyze variances.
- Internal Controls: Implement and maintain robust internal control systems to safeguard assets and ensure accuracy of financial information.
- Investor Relations: Prepare financial reports and presentations for investors and other stakeholders.
Qualifications
- CPA Certification: Preferred
- Experience: 7 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a regulated industry.
- Cannabis Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of cannabis industry accounting and regulatory landscape in New York State.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks Online), Excel, and other financial tools.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
