POSITION SUMMARY: As a member of the Recreation Center guest services and facilities team, the incumbent in this position shares the responsibility for customer service, janitorial duties, and assistance with maintenance tasks of the Recreation Center. The individual will be responsible for overseeing phone calls and walk-in services, including sales of day passes and monthly memberships. You will be responsible for managing admissions, enrolling customers in facility programs, carrying out cleaning and safety protocols, monitoring guest activities, assisting with the maintenance of the facility, and executing improvements to the Recreation Center facilities, sports complex, and amenities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Shall be responsible for the day-to-day cleaning, sanitation, and oversight maintenance of the Bear River Recreation Center and related amenities, which consists of a gymnasium, fitness center, weight/cardio rooms, men’s and women’s locker rooms, a vending machine, kitchen, dry sauna, and associated amenities.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety standards, maintaining cleanliness and upkeep of recreation facilities to industry standards.
- Inspecting and monitoring hourly, daily, weekly and monthly operating systems in the Rec Center.
- Performing a rotating seven-day/week work schedule and a periodic 24-hour/day on-call system.
- Performing related work and assisting other departments as necessary such as supporting BRB Special Events such as weddings, concerts, etc.
- Preparing and maintaining necessary records, reports, and logs for events, group fitness, etc.
- Vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping of flooring and stairs.
- Clean, polish, and/or dust weight room machines, equipment, fans, walls and structures.
- Clean and sanitize bathrooms; sinks, toilets, urinals, showers, tiles and dry saunas.
- Restock supplies in bathrooms, lockers, weight rooms, and common areas.
- Empty all trash cans and replace liners, clean receptacles as necessary.
- Cleaning windows, windowsills, doors, and door handles.
- Maintain supply and storage closets in a clean, organized and safe manner.
- Shall handle incoming phone calls and incoming patrons.
- Verify ALL memberships and manage membership-related tasks such as payments, cancellations, and account changes.
- Keep towels washed, dried, and folded.
- Assist in enforcing BRRC policies and regulations.
- Provides general information to the community about BRRC programming and options.
- Must be a self-motivated task seeker, keeping busy, and remaining productive throughout the day.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
AUTHORITY/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Must be 16 years or older
- Must be able to obtain a work permit if required.
- 6 months of point of sales preferred.
- Reception and customer services experience preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- CPR & First Aid Training required within first six (6) months
COMPUTER OPERATIONS
- Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to operate standard office equipment (copier, fax, etc.).
- Must be able to work with Native American people and be sensitive to their culture.
- Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:
Power and hand tools, specialized light duty power equipment, computer control systems, and ladders. Materials: Super Shine, Window clean, detergents, lime-out, steel polisher, disinfectant, sanitizer, and other materials and chemicals associated with facility maintenance as needed.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in an outdoor and indoor environment with exposure to a variety of weather conditions and temperatures, slippery/uneven surfaces, noise, vibrations, dust, fumes, machinery, working in confined spaces, on ladders, public contact, working alone and as a member of a team; handling emergency situations and office work.
Physical activities include lifting and carrying (over 50lbs), pulling, pushing, reaching, walking, standing, sitting, kneeling, repeated bending, climbing using both arms and legs, use of hands and fingers, use of eyes for sight including ability to distinguish color & distance, hearing, verbally communicating, operating motorized equipment and driving a vehicle.
