POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for maintenance of all Bear River Band facilities including but not limited to Tish Non Community Center, Bear River Tobacco Traders, Gaming, ENR,THPO. Duties include maintenance of inside and outside of building as well as ground care surrounding community center.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Must practice safety precautions and be safety conscious at all times.

• Maintains building/grounds accessibility and appearance by picking up litter and debris from walkways and parking lots.

• Performs specific grounds care tasks in accordance with established procedures. The tasks include, but are not limited to: mowing, trimming, edging, pruning, fertilizing, watering, reseeding, applying fungicides, herbicides, insecticides, sweeping walks and parking lots and drives, and repairing signs.

• Operates and maintains powered ground-care equipment such as tractor mower, backhoe, riding mower, push mowers, edger's, trimmers, vacuums, blowers, sprayers, and power washer.

• Uses and maintains non-powered grounds care equipment such as shovels, axes, hoes, wheelbarrows, saws, trimmers and hedge clippers.

• Reports to immediate supervisor any items requiring maintenance as well as any unusual or unsafe conditions.

• Assists with the installation or repair of plumbing fixtures or similar activities.

• Sweeps, mops and waxes floors, cleans paints walls and woodwork, cleans bathroom fixtures, fill bathroom dispensers toilet paper, paper towels, soap, hand sanitizer, clean break room and empties all trash receptacles.

• Other duties as assigned.

AUTHORITY/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Must be eighteen (18) years of age; and
• High school diploma or equivalent, or must obtain High School diploma with in (1) year of employment
• Prefer some knowledge of cleaning materials, equipment and methods commonly employed in custodial care and cleaning of buildings, facilities and equipment.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

• Shall possess a valid driver's license and be insurable by agencies insurance, or must obtain a Drivers License within (1) year of employment.

COMPUTER OPERATIONS

• Basic personal computer skills.

LANUGUAGE SKILLS:

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

• Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY:

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one- or two-step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Ability to operate standard office equipment (copier, fax, etc.).
• Must be able to work with Native American people and be sensitive to their culture.
• Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures. Report all unsafe activities to supervisor and/or Human Resources.
• Participate in proactive team efforts of Bear River Band of the Rohnerville Rancheria.
• Provide leadership to others through example and sharing of knowledge/skill.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to: Lift 50 to 100 pounds; Work in dusty, dirty work environments for an undetermined amount of time; May be required to stand for long periods of time.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to all elements of the weather as this position requires not only work in an office, but work out in the field as well. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
