What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Level 2 Watercraft Inspector position at Becker County?
POSITION: SEASONAL LEVEL 2 WATERCRAFT INSPECTOR (6 Positions available)
DUTIES
Level 2 watercraft inspectors interview boaters and perform watercraft inspections at public lake access sites in Becker County. Level 2 inspectors also transport and operate a hot-water pressure washer. Inspectors inform boaters about AIS prevention practices and record surveys on a tablet device. Level 2 inspectors may also assist with public awareness events and AIS monitoring projects. Inspectors are required to understand laws related to AIS prevention and communicate in a professional manner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1) Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have a valid drivers’ license.
3) Must perform physical tasks including standing and kneeling outdoors in varied weather conditions.
4) Must be able to use a tablet device to record data.
5) Must complete an online training session on watercraft inspection and decontamination and additional training as specified.
6) Must be able to operate a pressure washer and basic hand tools.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1) Knowledge about aquatic invasive species in Minnesota.
2) Knowledge of different types of watercraft and water-based recreation.
3) Experience in a customer service setting.
4) Experience using trucks, trailers and hand tools.
WORK SCHEDULE:
Anticipated season dates May-September, with the possibility to continue through October. Up to 40 hours per week, mostly weekends (required) and some midweek hours. All employees are limited to a maximum of 67 working days per year.
