Summary
The plant cost accountant will be responsible for managing and analyzing the financial costs associated with a manufacturing plant, including labor, materials, and overhead expenses, by tracking production costs, identifying variances, preparing detailed reports, and collaborating with plant management to optimize efficiency, profitability and overseeing and analyzing cost expenditures and purchases within the organization.
Essential Functions
- Providing accounting services for a manufacturing plant.
- Collecting and analyzing data about a company’s operational costs.
- Setting standards costs of manufactured goods.
- Developing and analyzing cost standards.
- Carry out cost-volume-profit (CVP) analysis.
- Establishing costs of business processes such as administration, labor, shipping, etc.
- Performing account reconciliations.
- Preparing audit reports and presenting findings to President CEO .
- Recommending changes to the company’s processes and policies to reduce cost and maximize profit.
- Advising upper management on appropriate costing based on financial data.
- Managing the company’s balance sheet and accounting spreadsheets.
- Analyze expenditures to create reports to advise on improving efficiency and reducing financial waste.
- Recommend new accounting procedures that could improve cash flow and make it easier to understand and itemize expense reports.
- Identify inconsistencies and irregularities in operations cost and model the impact on possible budget changes on the company’s financial health.
- Follow up is a high priority.
- Performs other job-related duties and responsibilities as required.
Must possess the following skill sets: Effective analytical and decision-making skills; SAP experience a must; IFRS experience preferred; Very proficient in Microsoft Excel; Ability to lead and mentor staff; Effective interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal; Effective change management skills.
Required Education and Experience Action oriented person with verifiable successful experience in bachelor’s degree in accounting, MBA and/or CPA preferred; Three (3) to five (5) years accounting experience in a management and or operational role; Proficient Excel user; Background in Costing and WOs preferred Ability to work across functional areas commonly found in manufacturing environment; Excellent written and oral communication ability; Ability to work non-standard business hours as required.
