The Cost Accountant is responsible for analyzing, controlling, and reporting on the company's cost structure. This position will work closely with manufacturing, supply chain, and sales to provide relevant information to all management levels for timely business decisions, provide critical insights into the costs associated with manufacturing operations, help ensure accurate cost tracking, and support financial decision-making across departments.ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Analyze and track manufacturing costs, including direct labor, direct materials, and overhead costs, to
ensure accurate cost reporting.
* Prepare and maintain cost reports, including cost of goods manufactured (COGM) and cost of goods
sold (COGS)
* Provide regular variance analysis between actual costs and budgeted or standard costs, identifying key
drivers of variances and suggesting corrective actions.
* Maintain product costing models for finished goods.
* Prepare and/or update Item Masters, Bills of Materials (BOM) and Production Routings.
* Assist in creating BOM's for new products.
* Support month-end close by reconciling cost of goods sold and preparing cost related financial
statements and reports.
* Collaborate with production, procurement, and IT teams to gather data related to manufacturing
processes and ensure accurate costing for manufacturing processes, labor, and overhead.
* Other ad hoc reporting and analysis as required.
* Flexibility in schedule required during peak periods and at month-end or year-end close.
* Keep management informed of area activities and of any significant challenges.
QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS:
* BS/BA degree in Business with concentration in accounting; CPA or CMA preferred.
* Minimum of 3 years' experience in cost accounting, preferably in manufacturing environment.
* Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles and financial reporting.
* Experience with SAP costing module.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
* Knowledge of accounting concepts and procedures including account reconciliation.
* Ability to maintain confidential information.
* Strong attention to detail, problem solving skills, data analysis and multi-tasking skills.
* Able to work independently as well as in a team environment. Some work may occasionally be
performed on the manufacturing/production floor.
* Possess strong organizational and time management skills.
* Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
* Demonstrates professionalism, integrity, collaboration, and reliability.
* Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including pivots, lookups, etc.
