Job Overview
Responsible for all tasks related to the potting, upsizing and planting of plants, trees and palms on the Farm on a timely basis to meet the needs of Sales staff.
Duties
- Notify Purchasing Manager of current and future needs in writing with all necessary information
- Apprise plant production vendors of current and future needs in writing with all needed information
- Write ‘Potting’ and ‘Upsizing’ work orders on our software system with all correct information to enable the creation of the new lots into our inventory system.
- Convey all planting sites, in writing, to be prepped for planting to Operations Manager
- Communicate all essential information to Contract Potting crew to accomplish task properly
- Inspect new plant material, supplied by vendors, to verify count and quality to meet the standards of Becker Tree Farm & Nursery, Inc.
- Select highest quality trees from our stock for upsizing to next larger size container
- Verify final count and planting depth when contract crew is complete. Complete the work order and turn into Becker administrative staff for closing
- Responsible to install new lot signs for new plantings in proper locations
- Develop an understanding of the Master Plan and implement approved changes
- Order all relevant supplies for planting as necessary to stay on schedule. This includes such items as containers, soil, tree collars, trellis supplies, ground cover with stakes and bamboo stakes
- Notify Production Manager of fertilizer needs by 3rd week of each month.
- Report on progress and needs at weekly Production meetings.
- Learn the ‘Equivalents’ System and text daily progress to Management
- Assist other managers with crews
- Occasional weekend irrigation duty
Requirements
- 1-2 Years Agricultural Experience
- High School Diploma/GED
- Valid Drivers License
- Legal Work Status
- Year round work in all weather conditions
- Hours: M-TH 6:30am-4:30pm and F 6:30am-3:30pm
- Additional work hours as need
Knowledge/Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Applications
- Bilingual Spanish preferred, but not required
