Job Requirements:
Responsible for processing hourly payroll for union employees. Must keep accurate records of vacation, discipline, and personnel records. Committed to providing customer service to management, foreman, union representatives, and hourly employees. Support the Safety and Environmental Department as required. Must be able to coordinate lunches, special events, and company celebrations.
The key duties and responsibilities:
- Process payroll hours for 4 shift operation on a bi-weekly basis using UKG aka Kronos
- Collaborate with HR and payroll to ensure accurate leave calculations and payments
- Process and track employee vacation requests, ensuring proper approvals and compliance with company policies. Address employee inquiries related to PTO, sick leave, and other leave policies
- Assist in resolving leave-related discrepancies and escalate issues when necessary
- Work together with department managers to assess staffing requirements
- Post job openings on various platforms, including job boards, social media, and company websites
- Build and maintain relationships with universities, and job fairs to expand the talent pipeline
- Screen resumes and conduct initial interviews to assess candidate qualifications
- Coordinate interviews between candidates and hiring managers
- Maintain communication with candidates throughout the hiring process to ensure a positive experience
- Organize and facilitate new employee orientation sessions
- Prepare onboarding materials, including handbooks, benefits information, and company policies
- Conduct presentations on company culture, policies, and expectations.
- Coordinate with IT and HR to ensure new hires receive necessary equipment and system access
- Answer new hire questions and provide guidance on workplace policies
- Involves collaborating with management, union representatives, and employees to address contract-related issues, resolve disputes, and ensure adherence to company policies
- Advise management on contract terms, including wages, benefits, work hours, and grievance procedures. Maintain detailed records of grievances, and policy changes
- Preparing disciplinary documents, including warnings, suspension notices, and termination letters
- Maintain and organize employee disciplinary records, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy
- Responsible for organizing and managing corporate events, company celebrations, and business functions to ensure seamless execution
- Provide customer service to the Safety and Environmental department when necessary
The key qualifications and skills for this position include:
Previous experience in recruitment, payroll, or human resources is preferred
Strong understanding of hiring practices and recruitment tools
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to effectively communicate and relate to both hourly and salaried employees
Proficiency in the use of personal computer including spreadsheets, word processing, internet, and email
