Position Overview:
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Shear Operator to join our team of precision metal fabricators. This position is responsible to set up and operate power shear machines to cut steel, aluminum, and other materials to specified dimensions and angles.
Essential Functions:
- Sets up and operates power shear to cut metal material
- Perform blade changes on hydraulic shear machine
- Perform QA protocol by inspecting parts with precision measuring tools (including measuring tape, caliper, and micrometer) to given specifications.
- Starts machine, adjust blade gap, rake angle and back-gauge controls, and monitors operation
- Program machine
- Measures dimensions of work piece, using tape, gauge, template, or rule and square, for conformance to specifications.
- Layout parts (without drawings) and make basis modifications to programs for complex custom pieces
- Inspect the machinery and product for quality assurance.
- Perform daily maintenance on the machinery.
- Observe safety procedures, assure self and others safety, and report any safety issues
- Read, analyze, and understand blueprints
Requirements:
- 3 Years’ experience with layout and operation in a machine shop, preferably in the Architectural Metal Fabrication industry
- Must be able to program machines.
- Hydraulic Shear Machine experience preferred
- Strong math skills for inputting specific dimensions and figures into the CNC machinery
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to read measurements accurately
- Ability to work independently
Job Type: This is a full-time position, Monday-Thursday, 5:00 am - 3:30 pm, with potential overtime on Fridays.
