What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping Clerk position at Bendix Commercial Vehicle Systems?
Bendix is seeking a Shipping Clerk on 2nd Shift.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Ability to perform but not limited to the following tasks, be familiar with and able to interpret packing slips, enter into the computer the correct information, to acknowledge receipt of the goods into the purchase order and processing database. Must be able to verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment by performing the following duties to quality and productivity standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
1. Actively participates in department/shift/team meetings.
2. Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor.
3. Requires completion of incoming inspection testing, confirmation of certificate of conformance and reconciliation of receiving / purchase documentation.
4. Performs documentation of each receipt (Packing Slip etc.) to support computer system entries.
5. Understands customer requirements and strives to meet or exceed customer expectations.
6. Performs and reviews daily receiving entries in computer system.
7. Requires completion of daily raw material and critical supply inventories.
8. Requires maintenance and cleaning of inventory areas, inventory organizations and racking, inventory cycle counting and reporting, monthly inventory accounting, and reorder quantity vendor releases notification.
9. Performs actual physical counts of raw materials and tag controls.
10. Maintains general housekeeping, maintenance and organization of the dock.
11. Requires transfer of all original documents to purchasing Supervisor for distribution.
12. Follows all aspects of Standardized Work Instructions.
14. Understands and adhere to current health, safety, and environmental policies (ISO14001). Is empowered to identify, stop, and communicate or escalate appropriate action in regards to safety, health, and environmental concerns.
15. Understands current quality policies and procedures (IATF 16949). Is empowered to identify, stop, and communicate or escalate appropriate action in regards to product quality.
16. Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of high school diploma or GED is required.
Requires at least 2 years of work experience in inventory, distribution, and operational procedures.
Must be able to operate various pieces of warehouse equipment, such as, fork lift and pallet jack.
Must be able to acquire forklift license in timely manner.
Strong math and attention to detail skills are required.
Must be able to effectively multi-task assignments.
Maintains good attendance in accordance with Bendix attendance policy, including working overtime as required.
Must be able to work in a team orientated environment.
Must be able to follow instructions, safety rules and regulations.
Must be able to read and follow written and verbal directions.
Basic knowledge and skills in MS Office, UPS Software, and FedEx Software is required.
Must be able to become certified and maintain certification through an OSHA approved forklift, HAZWOP, RCRA, Hazardous Waste and DOT Hazardous certification, and Crane operation certification as needed.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.56 - $22.31 per hour
