Summary
The Paralegal will help manage day-to-day operation of compliance processes at Benefit including being responsible for maintaining documentation of compliance records and performing research related to global compliance requirements and standards. The Paralegal will collaborate extensively with stakeholders and cross-functional partners to develop and implement improvements to the compliance processes and tools and to provide training on compliance processes to support compliant business operations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Drive business-level operation of compliance, primarily in privacy and ethics matters, including supporting internal compliance initiatives, conducting research and analysis, and drafting of internal guidance documents. Consistently look for ways to improve business processes and find efficiencies in support of the business and legal department.
- Facilitate cross-department communication and training.
- Maintain organization and documentation of compliance records.
- Manage day-to-day operation of company data subject request response, including communication externally and internally with cross-functional stakeholders
- Assist with development and scaling of internal global compliance standards.
- Support cross-functional third-party risk mitigation activities including support with ongoing risk mapping, analysis, process development and due diligence
- Assist with research related to development of internal global compliance policy and processes.
- Administrative support for the Legal team as needed.
- Any and all other duties as may be assigned.
Qualifications
- 2-4 years of experience in compliance and/or legal role with privacy focus.
- Project management experience is a plus.
- Superb organization skills, with the ability to prioritize and communicate priorities effectively.
- Dependable team player with attention to detail and accuracy in their work.
- Energetic, proactive, self-starter with the ability to work independently.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication skills including verbal, written, presentations and analysis.
- Extremely customer-focused and diplomatic, taking time to understand the needs of the business and legal.
- Comfortable with technology and working on technology related issues.
- Willingness to learn and continuously develop professional knowledge in compliance subject matter.
- Ability to contribute to wider corporate objectives, working with other senior managers.
- A Paralegal Certificate from an accredited institution or a Bachelor’s degree with requisite experience.
- Notary Public or willingness to become a certified Notary Public
- CIPP certification a plus
