What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fleet Maintenance Manager position at Berger Logistics?
The Fleet Maintenance Manager is responsible for the success of Super T Transport’s maintenance program. They will lead a team to manage all things fleet related including the third-party shop relationships, over the road maintenance/breakdown, and tire programs. The Fleet Maintenance Manager will create and implement processes, best practices, and fleet strategies within the maintenance department. They also manage the acquisition or disposal of assets when needed.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise the maintenance team to achieve department goals.
- Leadership over evaluating and managing third party maintenance spend
- Partnership with contracted third-party maintenance shops in ID, UT, and AZ
- Evaluates equipment performance and recommend modifications and vendors based on maintenance and cost information.
- Oversees preventative maintenance programs to maximize uptime and minimize service disruptions.
- Monitors, develops, and implements repair processes/programs to ensure the safe road readiness of the fleet
- Ensure compliance with local/state/federal regulations related to vehicle maintenance and safety.
- Effectively manage the tire program to reduce over the road tire defects and reduce tire spend
- Effectively manage the fleets idle program to be within benchmark standards established by the company
- Reviews and drives the weekly, monthly, and yearly preventive service schedule for all pieces of equipment
- Renewal of licenses, permits, and inspections
- Communicates daily performance issues to management
- Analyzes service issues related to maintenance and perform root cause analysis
- Ensures that inspection and maintenance procedures are within company standards
- Develops annual maintenance budget plan for the company
- Reviews monthly spend for actual, forecast and plan and explain variance
- Strong customer service experience.

- 5 years’ experience in a fleet maintenance leadership role.
- High ability to communicate through verbal and written means.
- Experience in the trucking industry.
- Associates degree in Communications, Business, or similar type
