Job Description
- We have an exciting opportunity for an Insurance Risk Manager to join our Berkley Accident and Health team. You will be responsible for soliciting, writing, and retaining a profitable book of managed care/reinsurance business and providing support to specialty accident inter-collegiate sports (ICS) and K-12 business.
- You will contribute to the achievement of Berkley Accident and Health's financial plans by meeting established premium growth and profitability goals.
Key Functions
- Assess risk to ensure that the risk meets established underwriting criteria.
- Evaluate, price, and propose rates based on established underwriting guidelines while meeting profitability standards set by management.
- Manage assigned workload to meet productivity and time service standards, ensuring that appropriate action is taken within the requested due date.
- Develop and maintain successful relationships with producer sources.
Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience and location.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree.
- 5 years in underwriting HMO Reinsurance and Provider Excess Loss insurance coverages or first-dollar underwriting experience.
- Experience in underwriting ICS and K-12 business is preferred (as well as any other experience-rated A&H product).
- Strong knowledge of risk evaluation and the rating of targeted business, as well as current industry terminology, trends, and markets.
- Strong knowledge of available products.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills with internal and external customers.
- Ability to be productive independently, yet work in a team environment.
- Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.
- Creativity and problem-solving skills.
- Establish and maintain positive working relationships with management and staff to further the company's mission.
