JOB DESCRIPTION
The Shipping Manager is responsible for managing plant floor workflow, shop floor employees, on-time delivery and compliance with all company safety, quality, and quantity policies.
JOB FUNCTIONS
- Oversees the entire shipping process, including order fulfillment, packaging, and transportation.
- Coordinates with carriers, freight forwarders, and other logistics partners to optimize shipping routes and reduce costs.
- Implements and maintains efficient shipping and delivery schedules to meet customer deadlines.
- Supervises shop floor employees.
- Investigates and resolves shipping discrepancies and customer complaints promptly.
- Stays current on shipping regulations, tariffs, and customs requirements.
- Ensures compliance with all relevant shipping and safety regulations.
- Analyzes shipping costs and identify opportunities for cost reduction without compromising service quality.
- Identifies areas for process improvement within the shipping department and implement best practices.
- Maintains a workflow that corresponds with business system scheduling tools.
- Responsible for manufacturing processes and equipment. Organizes work for smooth operations and shift changes.
- Reports any problems to the corresponding departments and the Operations Manager.
- Responsible for meeting production, quality and quantity standards.
- Responsible for implementing company safety policies and training employees.
- Ensures accurate data entry into the business system via direct training and supervision of labor pool.
- Conducts regular departmental information and safety meetings communicating to the labor pool as directed by the Operations Manager.
- Responsible for meeting and reporting company shipping goals.
- Responsible for tracking and reporting late orders.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Associates degree in business, industrial management or equivalent work experience.
Experience: Five years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a job shop.
Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong knowledge of logistics, transportation, and customs regulations. Excellent leadership and communication skills. Experience working with our business system software. Must be familiar with Microsoft Office software products.
Requirements: Understands lean manufacturing concepts and initiates process improvements to improve efficiency and reduce costs. Hands-on approach. Shift work and travel required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
An office environment in a controlled atmospheric building as well as a plant floor environment.
