**This is an on-site position at 8 Presidential Way, Woburn MA**The Release of Information Specialist processing all assigned requests for medical records which includes assisting with walk ins with Process Servers/Subpoenas.
This position must always safeguard and protect the patient’s right to privacy by ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to the patient’s medical information and that all ROI requests follow the request authorization and healthcare facility policies as well as federal/state statutes, such as HIPAA.
Job Description:
Handles release of information to all requestors, patients, health care providers, insurance companies, lawyers, etc. per hospital policy
Ensures medical records are accurately filed in the permanent and incomplete file
Pulls medical records when needed
Ensures purging of the permanent medical records is done properly
Ensures medical records are sent to the archival area when necessary
Pulling medical records when needed
Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards related to health information management
Monitor and prioritize filing medical record tasks to meet established deadlines and maintain productivity
Maintain confidentiality and security of all patient information per HIPAA Guidelines
Troubleshot any technical issues related to filing medical records
Train and educate other team members on proper medical record filing procedures
Performs other duties as required
