The Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) plays a vital role in the overall operation of the Nursing Department. This key position assists the Director of Nursing in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the department's activities in accordance with federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations.
The ADON oversees various aspects, including education, infection prevention, and wound management. Key responsibilities include:
- Oversight and management of Education, Infection Prevention, and Wound Management
- Assisting in the evaluation and implementation of long-term and sub-acute nursing care
- Overseeing nursing staffing to ensure quality care is provided
- Aiding in resident assessments and developing care plans in compliance with regulations and standards of nursing practice
- Communicating with the Interdisciplinary Care team regarding resident/family/guardian care concerns
To excel in this role, candidates should possess:
- Wound Care Certification and SigmaCare experience are highly valued
- Supervisory or managerial experience in a hospital or nursing home setting is preferred
- Graduate of an approved school of nursing and current registration in New York State as a RN in good standing
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or minimum five (5) years of experience in a supervisory capacity
- Excellent communication, organization, and customer service skills
- Ability to work cohesively with residents, families, and staff from various departments
