About the Position
The Community Voice and Community Engagement Coordinator will support the work of Community Voice and Community Engagement Programs Managers by fostering active participation and inclusion of community voices in BHT’s programs. Working closely with the Executive Vice President (EVP) of Equity Strategy, the Coordinator will ensure initiatives are informed by diverse community perspectives, specifically amplifying historically marginalized voices. This role will focus on implementing equitable engagement strategies and enhancing connections between BHT, community-based organizations, and residents, ensuring community-led governance and decision-making are core to BHT’s work.
Essential Job Functions
The Community Voice and Engagement Coordinator ensures that policies and processes are followed, and that every detail of a program is centrally located, well documented, and up to date. They ensure that documentation and materials are up to date in data system, SharePoint, and other relevant platforms to ensure compliance. The coordinator manages to budgets and priorities, keeps track of budget codes and checks for accuracy, and supports all the logistical details of community voice and engagement efforts, namely Community Voice Council, Tribal Partners Collaborative, Community Health Worker of Washington of Eastern Washington, Trueblood, Community Sponsorship, Grant Writing Support, and Networking Hours. Specific components of the role include:
Project Coordination and Communication
- Coordinate logistics for regular community feedback sessions, collaborative forums, and peer learning opportunities to enhance community involvement in governance and program outcomes;
- Maintain clear communication with internal teams and external partners, tracking progress toward key performance indicators and engagement goals; and
- Support the Community Voice and Community Engagement Team in meeting program timelines, managing deliverables, and documenting feedback to guide continuous program improvement.
Data Collection and Reporting
- Assist in collecting data on community engagement metrics, satisfaction levels, and program outcomes, compiling insights for reporting purposes;
- Work alongside the Community Voice and Community Engagement Team to prepare quarterly and annual reports detailing engagement success, program impact, and areas for improvement; and
- Maintain accurate records of community interactions and participation data in BHT’s shared systems for ongoing program evaluation.
Equity and Inclusion Champion
The Coordinator understands the importance of how resources, programming, and partnerships can disrupt systemic racism and oppression. The Coordinator centers the needs of impacted communities* when executing their job functions and makes decisions for their program(s), in alignment with BHT’s mission and values. Additionally:
- Uphold BHT’s commitment to equity and inclusion, ensuring community engagement strategies are sensitive to the systemic barriers impacting community members;
- Engage in continuous learning to enhance knowledge of anti-racism, cultural responsiveness, and health equity;
- Support the Community Voice and Community Engagement Team in developing inclusive program practices that prioritize historically marginalized voices;
- Demonstrates the initiative to learn and enhance skills that promote anti-racism, cultural responsiveness, and an understanding of systems of oppression and their impact on health outcomes; and
- Participates in intentional learning efforts, including events relating to understanding and dismantling institutional racism and building cultural responsiveness.
Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in community engagement, public health, or social services, ideally within diverse and underserved communities.
- Solid organizational and time-management skills; consistently delivering on established schedules, guidelines, protocols, and deadlines.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to foster trust and collaborative relationships.
- Proficiency in technology in a productive and efficient way.
- Proficiency in data collection and analysis tools, with attention to detail in documentation and reporting.
- Able to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced work environment
- Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion, with a strong understanding of community dynamics and systemic health disparities.
- Familiarity with program budgeting, planning, and tracking to support ongoing engagement initiatives.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills necessary to communicate effectively with internal and external partners.
- Demonstrate attention to detail, accuracy, and precision.

Working Conditions
This position requires the ability to:
- Remain in a stationary position for prolonged period of time;
- Move/traverse within a multi-level office space, to/from community partner locations, and various meeting spaces;
- Often move/transport equipment, supplies that may exceed 30 pounds;
- Constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and printer; and
- Communicate frequently, effectively, and accurately with internal and external partners.
Environmental Conditions
Generally, in an office environment with visits to external environments that require traveling to and from various locations within the BHT region of Spokane, Lincoln, Pend Oreille, Stevens, Ferry and Adams County and occasionally to the west side of the state. Post-COVID, BHT has adapted a hybrid work approach, encouraging in-person meetings with team members and community partners.
