Between Friends provides the critical care services of crisis line, court advocacy and counseling. In addition, we are actively engaged in schools through our REACH program (Relationship Education, A Choice for Hope), teaching young people about healthy relationships, thus breaking the cycle before it begins. Since 1995, the REACH program has worked with over 100,000 students making it the largest and most comprehensive healthy relationship educator in Illinois.

Board Position Expectations And Time Commitment Summary
Commitment to the following responsibilities over a minimum of two fiscal years (July 1, 2024, to June
30, 2026)
- Prepare for, attend, and contribute to regular board meetings - (approx. 1 hour per meeting and approx. 1 hour preparing for the meeting)
- Participate in a minimum of one board subcommittee (board of governance, external affairs, event-specific committees, and special committees as required) - (approx. 1 hour per meeting and 1 hour of meeting prep; subcommittee meetings vary)
- Actively fundraise to support board financial goals and objectives. This includes active participation in all fundraising campaigns and board events - (approx. 1-3 hours per month)
- Responsibly represent Between Friends to their respective communities and advocate for Between Friends’ mission, programs, and services as appropriate
- The average time commitment varies during the year with certain months requiring
time commitment is 5 hours per month.
