Job Summary:
The Laboratory Technician will perform essential duties to support our wastewater treatment processes. This includes chemical testing, sample collection, maintaining lab equipment, and ensuring the accuracy and quality of test results. The role requires strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Testing & Sample Analysis:
Perform chemical testing using lab equipment (e.g., pH strips, pipettes, burettes, and pumps) to ensure proper wastewater treatment processes. Accurately interpret test results and make adjustments as necessary.
- Chemistry Administration:
Administer, monitor, and adjust chemical treatments for wastewater. Ensure all chemical processes are properly documented and adjusted as needed to maintain quality control.
- Data Entry & Reporting:
Accurately record and report test results in logs. Maintain detailed, up-to-date records for all testing, chemical usage, and adjustments made during the shift.
- Quality Control:
Monitor the effectiveness of treatment processes and adjust accordingly to maintain product quality. Follow all procedures for quality assurance to ensure that all test results meet company and regulatory standards.
- Lab Maintenance:
Perform daily and weekly cleaning and maintenance of laboratory equipment and supplies. Ensure all tools are organized and in good working condition for continued use.
- Safety & Compliance:
Follow all safety protocols, including proper chemical handling and waste disposal, and ensure a safe and compliant work environment. Knowledge of first aid and emergency procedures is required.
- Team Communication:
Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth operations and to address any issues or concerns that arise during the shift.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate degree in a science-related field is a plus.
- Previous laboratory experience, preferably in a wastewater treatment or chemical testing environment.
- Familiarity with laboratory equipment (e.g., pumps, pipettes, burettes) and laboratory testing techniques.
- Strong understanding of wastewater treatment principles and procedures.
- Ability to accurately interpret test results and calculate chemical additions or adjustments.
- Excellent data entry and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of safety standards, including chemical handling and first aid procedures.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.85 - $17.97 per hour
