What are the responsibilities and job description for the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor position at BG Products Inc.?
Job Purpose
Responsible for planning and overseeing the work of maintenance staff to ensure safe and efficient operations of the assigned facilities. The maintenance staff is tasked with the upkeep of buildings and grounds, as well as upkeep of machinery to ensure production operates within optimal standards.
Duties & Responsibilities
• Leads by example to achieve BG’s Mission/Vision and Core Values.
• Adheres to company polices and presents a professional, positive attitude at all times.
• Maintain all packaging lines with a high level of reliability per OEM specs.
• Manage HVAC, boiler, and all utility systems and all BG Buildings and Grounds maintenance at assigned facilities.
• Develop and maintain maintenance programs, CMMS, PM’s, maintain all equipment per PM system.
• Delegate work orders, prioritize tasks, and manage employees’ time and productivity to ensure efficient use of time.
• Develop and manage department budgets.
• Develop projects, obtain quotes, supervise and work with contractors, implement and follow up on all projects to ensure completion.
• Promote safety compliance regarding all safety programs; LOTO, PSM, OSHA, etc.
• Supervise work areas and examine tools and equipment in order to detect unsafe conditions or violations of procedures or safety rules; Follow up with corrective actions.
• Work overtime as needed, manages after-hours call backs and monitor operations remotely.
• Supervise the maintenance department hourly workforce to ensure attainment of key business results in areas of Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery to Internal and External Customers.
• Aid in new product development and subsequent production of.
• Ensure departmental processes are working within ISO and EHS policies; participates in and resolves audit findings as needed.
• Ensure all procedures and work instructions are current and updated.
• Effectively collaborate with and manage a work team with specific responsibility for motivating others, ensuring performance, schedule execution, task coordination, equipment and area preparation and effective administration of personnel policies and procedures.
• Managing conflict and effect resolution to technical and personnel challenges is key along with openness to change and the ability to effect positive change.
• Support activities in the areas of cost containment, efficiency, productivity, energy conservation, waste minimization, operational excellence and lean practices.
• Evaluate, coach, mentor, train, lead, and develop employees.
• Other duties as needed or assigned.
Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent preferred.
• Must have a valid driver's license.
• Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in facilities maintenance and leadership in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred. Additional experience with project, production, maintenance, and/or leadership skills, strongly preferred.
