What are the responsibilities and job description for the Community Engagement Specialist position at Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Minnesota?
Be a part of a national award winning team. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Southern Minnesota Community Engagement Specialist will serve as a key part of the both the Program and Marketing Team. The Community Engagement Specialist will be responsible for implementing the strategy to achieve volunteer and child recruitment goals of the agency and will be responsible to execute the plan.
A successful Community Engagement Specialist will produce positive outcomes in the following areas: volunteer yield and processing time, customer satisfaction, quality ratings in customer relations processing leading to high match retention and meeting the needs of BBBS through effective volunteer recruitment.

Volunteer Recruitment
· Create recruitment plan to meet annual children served goals set by the agency.
· Network and build relationships with businesses and clubs in service area.
· Call businesses to set up speaking engagements to recruit volunteers.
· Conduct BBBS Information Sessions – virtual and in-person .
· Assist in planning recruitment events.
· Ability and willingness to speak publicly at local businesses and clubs to raise awareness for BBBS and the need for volunteers.
· Promote Big for a Day opportunity to local businesses and clubs to build awareness of BBBS.
· Manage database of past volunteers & potential volunteers. Steward them to become Bigs.
· Assist with evening and weekend events as needed.
· Support recruitment committee through administrative support, communication, scheduling, and record keeping.
· Provide high quality experience for volunteers as they inquire about becoming a volunteer. Provide inquiries with information in prompt manner by effectively responding to new inquires within 24 business hours.
· Provide and track new volunteer applications and pre match training.
· Maintain accurate, thorough, and accessible records for all recruitment and inquiries.
· Work with Marketing Coordinator to plan recruitment marketing – social media, radio, press releases, etc.
Child Recruitment:
· Manage relationships with social workers and teachers at area schools
· Keep school updated on youth referral process
· Provide quarterly reports to all area schools on youth enrollment
· Recruit youth during back-to-school orientation at area schools
· Provide high quality experience for parents and guardians as they inquire about enrolling a child. Provide inquiries with information in prompt manner.
· Effectively use Matchforce (match management system) to manage current Littles, waiting Littles, and past Littles.
· Manage the participation list for BBBS Big for a Days. Call/email/text parents to ensure waiting Littles are signed up for the event.
General:
· Support Executive Director in recruitment work.
· Attend required meetings and events as scheduled.
· Always represent BBBS in a professional manner, providing courteous service to both internal and external constituent and presenting a positive image of BBBS.
· Abide by BBBS policies and practices.
· Complete other duties as assigned.
Evaluation of Performance
Performance will be evaluated based on meeting the requirements of the job description; meeting performance metrics and other quality indicators established for this position; working effectively in a team environment; and demonstrating the values of Big Brothers Big Sisters.
Experience, education, degrees, and licenses
· Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
· Proficiency in Microsoft office software, including Excel, and experience with Salesforce database.
· Will be required to participate in continuing educations programs as requested.
Physical demands/Work environment
· Must be able to work proficiently with computers and other office equipment.
· Required to travel approximately 10% of time to meet potential partners, vendors or consultants, attend conferences and meetings, etc. Travel is generally within service area.
· Must have reliable transportation. Drivers of privately owned vehicles must have valid driver’s license and meet state required automobile insurance minimums.
