Big-D Construction is looking for an Office Assistant to join our team based in Salt Lake City, UT working on the SLC Airport.
Experience / Training:
- A High School Diploma or GED is required
- Business school, Associate’s degree or equivalent is a plus
- 3 years in an administrative support role is required

- The ability to operate a multi-line phone system and other office equipment, such as computer, printer, copier, fax, and postage machine.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office suite of products.
- Ability to perform light clerical work, such as typing, filing, and sorting.
- Great Customer Service Skills.
- Ability to type 40 wpm.
Duties, Responsibilities and Expectations: (other duties may be assigned to meet business needs)
- Politely welcomes and assists all visitors as they arrive at the corporate offices. Contacts employees to let them know the visitor has arrived.
- Promptly answers all incoming phone calls and promptly transfers calls to the appropriate person.
- Respectfully takes messages when requested.
- Uses best judgment and acts as a “gatekeeper” to screen solicitors who arrive in-person or call in to the office.
- Updates job lists in order to keep track of which office personnel are working on certain jobsites.
- Updates master phone list with phone extensions for new office hires and extension changes.
- Receives all incoming mail, packages, and plans. Ensures that all of the items are distributed to the correct recipient efficiently.
- Creates shipping labels and adds postage to outgoing mail. Coordinates the pick-up of all outgoing express packages and metered mail.
- Maintains mail room mailboxes for new & terminated employees.
- Ensures shipping and office supplies are well stocked and orders additional products when needed.
- Opens and closes the office at the beginning and end of each business day.
- Records and advises receipt of owner payments and other checks as received.
- Updates bid boards and purchase order logs and distributes purchase order books (as necessary).
- Reserve/coordinate conference rooms as requested.
- Assists all departments with various clerical needs.
