Overview
The Rental and Repair Shop Supervisor is responsible for the smooth and successful operation of the department. He or she oversees the repair of outdoor power equipment and tools, small engines, glass, plexi-glass and PVC cutting, re-screening of windows and doors. The Rental and Repair Supervisor ensures all customers’ questions/concerns are addressed by providing knowledgeable and pertinent information regarding products, usage, warranties and repairs. Additionally, he or she ensures that all of the retail operations within the department are run smoothly and as profitably as possible. These merchandise areas include automotive, moving and packing, propane, sod, contractor and homeowner outdoor poor equipment and rental.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Highly proficient in small engine repair with the ability to obtain Stihl and other repair certifications.
- 1 year of retail supervisory experience, preferably in small engine repair and/or rental.
- 3-5 years of retail sales or small engine repair and rental business.
- Skill in establishing priorities and managing both workload and time wisely.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both customers and co-workers.
- Ability to manage and work with a team.
- Ability to follow verbal and written work direction.
- Ability to multitask and follow through on work assignments, especially those that are detailed.
- Ability to follow health and safety compliance.
- Availability to work weekends during busy season and evenings as needed to provide coverage.
Essential Job Functions
- Be able to accurately diagnose and repair equipment.
- Work as part of a team to solve technical and mechanical problems quickly and efficiently.
- Follow and promote high standards of safety, cleanliness and organization.
- Be able to open or close the shop safely and securely.
- Process returns and defected items daily to ensure items are processed appropriately.
- Plan and supervise breaks and lunch schedules.
- Ensure all areas are fully faced and down stacked and that staff are completing this throughout the day as needed.
- Assures effective staffing levels for business expectations by appropriately reducing staffing when slower than expected and reaching out to additional help when needed.
- Ensure rentals are clean, in good working order and merchandised well.
- Address customer issues and requests, elevating to the Store Manager or Assistant Store Managers as needed.
- Provides exceptional employee to customer experience by supporting and assisting in interactions as needed.
- Assign staff to specific duties as needed.
- Maintain an organized and efficient shop, back room and office.
- Maintain spare parts inventory and re-order as needed.
- Maintain and help service delivery vehicles and forklifts when necessary.
