Budget Title : Assistant Facilities Program Coordinator (SL-3)
Salary : $62,000 - $72,000
The Asbestos Coordinator and Safety Manager is the focal point for all campus-initiated asbestos, lead and mold testing, contractor interface, and record keeping. Also responsible for direction / authorization of testing of asbestos suspected materials. Duties include :
- Respond to requests for information with the D.O.L., NYSDEC, EPA, PESH and others
- Prepare / present asbestos abatement information sessions to building occupants. Ensure accuracy of FM field reference guide for ACM and PACM
- Maintain exemplary records of all tested asbestos and lead abated materials for campus
- Ensure abatement and Code Rule 56 compliance by contractors
- Provide advice / counsel and support to the Director of Operations, Director of Design, Director of Capital Projects, and fellow planners and Operations Supervisors. Provide asbestos expertise and coordination assistance to the Capital Project Managers for Capital projects with the State University Construction Fund, Dormitory Authority and others
- Maintain NYS D.O.L. Asbestos Handling Certificate, Class G (Supervisor) and Asbestos Monitor Certificate
- Participate in defining contract requirements for asbestos testing / monitoring. Track progress of asbestos abatement projects, resolve potential problems with Quality Assurance Site Supervisor
- Administer Electrical Safety and respirator programs
- Coordinate yearly inspection of campus buildings by the NYS Office of Fire Prevention and Control and ensure remediation
- Administer training / certification programs for department. Conduct on-site safety audits
