Position Description & Details
We're looking for a student-centered, detail-oriented individual who is energized by the opportunity to assist students in achieving their educational goals. This role is a key part of our advising team, playing a vital role in helping students navigate the college experience from day one.
What You'll Do:
- Assist academic advisors in scheduling and conducting advising sessions with new students.
- Guide students on course selection, degree requirements, and university policies.
- Help students understand and utilize resources like tutoring centers, library services, and online learning platforms.
- Respond to student inquiries via email, phone, and in person with accuracy and empathy.
- Maintain detailed and confidential records of advising sessions and student communications.
- Support the planning and execution of student registration events for new, current, and transfer students.
- Assist students with graduation applications and resolve questions or conflicts as they arise.
- Act as a liaison between students, faculty, and key campus departments including Admissions, Enrollment Services, and Academic Records.
- Collaborate with faculty and advising staff to ensure consistent and clear advising practices.
- Bring your ideas! Help us improve and streamline advising processes to better serve our students and enhance the overall college experience.

Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in education, business, counseling, or related field and two years related experience.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Good computer software skills – Microsoft Office, email, and electronic calendar and good keyboarding skills.
- Sensitivity to cultural diversity and an understanding of minority-related educational issues.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to work with and present to diverse groups of individuals and good customer relation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in education, business, counseling, or related field.
- Experience in a similar position in higher education.
