Overview
Missouri Baptist Medical Center, an acute care hospital in St. Louis County, offers a full continuum of medical and surgical services, including heart care, cancer, women and infants, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound and pain management services. Missouri Baptist Medical Center's Surgical Services department consists of 22 ORs which include three heart team rooms and the da Vinci robotic surgical system.
Preferred Qualifications
Role Purpose
Function as a team member in the operating room to support medical and nursing staff during the pre, intra, and post-operative phase, including preparing equipment and supplies for use by the medical team, cleaning and sterilizing equipment and reusable supplies, assembling case carts/trays and performing direct patient care as needed.
Responsibilities
- Assembles and processes instruments sets, trays, supplies and linen; prioritizes trays and tasks according to the surgery schedule.
- Utilizes and troubleshoots steam sterilizers.
- Follows proper techniques and procedures to ensure the integrity of the sterilization process.
- Disassembles, decontaminates, and processes instrumentation according to manufacturer and industry standards.
- Transports patients with any necessary materials and documents to treat or diagnose.
