Position Summary: As a Marine Service Writer at Black Dog Marine, you will play a critical role in ensuring our customers’ boating needs are met efficiently and effectively. You will act as a liaison between our customers and our service technicians, handling work orders, providing estimates, and ensuring top-notch service delivery. A strong understanding of boating terminology and general marine services is essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Customer Interaction & Communication: Greet customers in person and via phone to address service inquiries, explain repair needs, and provide accurate information about services and pricing.
- Work Order Creation & Management: Develop clear, concise service orders that include all necessary details (parts, labor, descriptions) and manage them throughout the repair process.
- Estimate Preparation & Invoicing: Provide accurate, detailed estimates for repair work and parts. Prepare invoices upon completion of work and ensure timely processing of customer payments.
- Scheduling & Coordination: Schedule service appointments based on customer needs and availability. Coordinate with technicians and the parts department to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Parts Ordering & Inventory Management: Order necessary parts and maintain an organized inventory system to ensure timely availability of materials needed for repairs and maintenance.
- Technical Communication: Work closely with technicians to understand the scope of work and ensure work orders accurately reflect the services being performed.
- Customer Follow-Up & Satisfaction: Follow up with customers after service completion to ensure satisfaction and address any concerns or questions they may have.
- Maintain Records: Keep detailed records of customer interactions, work orders, and service history in our system to ensure accurate tracking and follow-up.
- Stay Current on Marine Industry Trends: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of marine products, services, and industry trends to effectively communicate with customers and provide expert advice.
Requirements:
- Experience Preferred: Previous experience as a service writer in the marine industry is strongly preferred.
- Boating Knowledge: A strong understanding of boating terminology, parts, and marine service procedures is required.
- Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with customers, service technicians, and team members.
- Customer Service Oriented: Proven track record of providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
- Tech-Savvy: Familiarity with service management software and basic computer skills.
