We are seeking a motivated and meticulous Jr. Accountant to join our accounting dept. This role works closely with company officers, Controller, Sr. Accountant, and accounting staff to ensure relevant and appropriate activities are performed timely and accurately.
Under the direction of the Controller, the Jr. Accountant is responsible for performing various general accounting functions for three entities, including but not limited to, handling invoices, processing payments, payroll, and maintaining accurate financial records. The long-term plan is to add other financial duties such as financial reports, analyzing and reconciling accounts, ensuring compliance with accounting standards.
Responsibilities:
· Review and process incoming invoices from vendors
· Verify the accuracy of invoices and ensure proper coding and approval before payment
· Prepare and process payments via checks, electronic transfers, and other methods.
· Point of contact for vendor-related inquiries, to reconcile vendor statements and resolve any discrepancies or issues
· Maintain organized records of all daily, weekly, and monthly accounts payable transactions and related documentation
· Collaborate with managers and vendors to address and resolve any billing or payment issues
· Process and manage travel and expense reimbursements
· Reconcile corporate credit cards
· Receive and log daily revenue, prepare and transmit ACH/Wires and other banking activities
· Prepare reports on accounts payable activities as needed for financial analysis
· Assist with special department events and activities
· Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures
Qualifications:
· Associates or Bachelor degree in Accounting
· Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, with extensive experience in operating within a financial software system, CYMA preferred
· PC proficiency is essential (Windows environment), emphasis in Excel, Word and Outlook
· Possess strong communication skills
· Possess strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization in a positive and professional environment
· Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information
· Ability to analyze and problem-solve
· Ability to work independently and within a team environment
