Job Description:
Our team is looking for a dynamic, self-directed, and high-performing Development Director to join our team. The Development Director’s primary focus will be geared toward community engagement. This person is responsible for prospecting for new business, advancing sales discussions, and closing the business deal. The ideal candidate will possess strong sales, interpersonal, and organizational skills. They should be efficient with multitasking and be able to plan and use resources accordingly to meet the assigned goals for their role.
Roles and Responsibilities:
The Development Director generates fundraising income through special events, campaigns targeting foundations, United Ways, corporations, civic groups and individual donors. The Development Director also identifies and creates opportunities to build public awareness of Council services, programs, activities and planned giving opportunities.
Job Segments
· Identify community and corporate partners for fundraising
· Solicit new dollars from community and corporate partners
· Oversee special events designed to solicit corporate and individual donations
· Actively cultivate and solicit new funding opportunities and development strategies for a broader base of donors
· Provide direction to volunteer fundraisers
· Plan and execute assigned council level special events
· Responsible for maintaining close working relationships with funders and the Board of Directors.
· Identify new corporate and private funding sources; represent council in meetings with potential funding sources.
· Recognize contributions with acknowledgement letters and special recognition events.
· Develop, write, and submit grant proposals to corporations, private foundations, government agencies etc.
· Write follow up letters to donors.
· Identify additional special events that focus awareness on Council activities, engage community support and generate revenue.
· Maintain good public relations with local media contacts, members, families, alumni, community leaders and youth serving professionals.
· Perform other related duties as assigned by the council.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
· Bachelor’s Degree preferred
· Outside sales experience preferred
· Understanding and implementing company vision and strategy
· Accustomed to measuring and managing performance
· Interpersonal skills and adapting to interactions with a diverse audience
· Operating in a fast-paced environment and driving for results
