Role Description:
As a Defined Contribution Associate, you will partner with external Defined Contribution Consultant(s) to provide BlackRock products and solutions to financial advisors and consultants that focus on defined contribution plans. The Defined Contribution Associate will maintain a high level of client connectivity and represent the most comprehensive investment offering in the industry.
Responsibilities:
Proactively position and differentiate BlackRock and our investment products against competitor firms and products with financial advisors and recordkeeper partners through a phone-based consultative sales approach
Build an efficient and thoughtful strategy to improve engagement and influence with financial advisors
Expand existing client base by uncovering investment needs and presenting solutions
Identify and pursue new opportunities by client profiling, lead identification, and follow-up activity
Exhibit high level market knowledge and ability to converse with financial advisors on investment solutions and current economic and market conditions
Understand dynamics of capital markets, impact to investor portfolios, and objective-based investing
Be informed and capable of articulating trends and themes in the retirement marketplace
Exceed client contact expectations and dedication to professional development
Demonstrate strong understanding of competitive landscape
Embrace the firm’s dedication to an outstanding client experience
Skills & Qualifications:
- BA/BS degree required, emphasis on Finance, Economics, or Engineering preferred (MBA, CFA, CIMA, CFP a plus)
- 2+ years of experience in mutual fund or brokerage industry preferred
- NASD Series 7 and 66 (or 63 & 65) required
- Previous sales/wholesaling experience preferred
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Excellent listening and profiling skills
- Knowledge of investment trends, DC marketplace, and advisor best practices
- Proven MS Office skills, including: Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Motivated teammate with strong interpersonal, organizational, time management and problem-solving skills
