Position Title: Marketing Coordinator
Reports to: Operations Director and Director
Pay Rate: $20/hour
Expected Hours: 10-15 hours per week. Work Location: In person in Blaine, WA.
Position Summary: The Blaine-Birch Bay Park and Recreation District #2 is currently seeking a Marketing Coordinator. We are seeking a detail-oriented and creative professional to support our marketing and communications efforts. Under the guidance and with the approval of their supervisor, this role involves designing promotional materials, managing social media and website content, creating newsletters, and coordinating outreach with local businesses and media. The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, a passion for community engagement, and the ability to effectively communicate our programs and events to the public.
Position Responsibilities:
- Design and distribute flyers, graphics, and digital marketing materials.
- Update the registration program with descriptions (text and images).
- Maintain and update two websites with current marketing content.
- Manage and schedule social media posts.
- Create and distribute two monthly newsletters and maintain the newsletter contact list.
- Distribute flyers at our locations and deliver promotional materials to local businesses and community hubs.
- Take photos and videos for marketing purposes and create reels of programs and events.
- Create and post event notices (e.g., closures, inclement weather updates).
- Design and order brochures, banners, and event signage and coordinate banner placements.
- Share event and program details with community partners. Post events on digital directories and community calendars.
- Design and place newspaper ads and inserts
- Coordinate the monthly column in the local newspaper.
- Prepare and distribute press releases.
- Support sponsorship and volunteer recruitment.
- Organize marketing materials for community events
- Work with all staff at community events.
- Maintain a positive work environment and set an example of professionalism and conduct.
- Perform other duties as assigned: administrative tasks, customer service, janitorial duties.
Candidate Qualifications:
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in graphic design tools such as Canva.
- Photography and basic video editing skills are a plus.
- Experience with social media management, content creation, and scheduling tools.
- Knowledge of website management (experience with WordPress preferred).
- Ability to create and distribute newsletters (experience with Constant Contact is a plus).
- Proficient in standard office software such as Microsoft Teams, Excel, and Outlook, with a willingness to learn new software.
- Polite, respectful, and professional.
- A team player who can also work independently and is eager to learn new skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and the public.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, insurance, and a good driving record.
- Must pass background checks.
