Position: COMPUTER CODING TEACHER

Supervisor: Principal

Exempt

General Job Description

Planning lessons and activities that facilitate basic and advanced media skills for our Mesa Alta students. This includes, but is not limited to, teaching photography, videography, news reports, journalism and public speaking.

Qualifications

  • Beginning teachers seeking an endorsement in technology education to an initial Level I NM teaching license, must satisfy all of the requirements of the license, which includes 24-36 semester hours in technology education.
  • Teachers seeking to add an endorsement in technology education to an existing NM teaching license of any level where the candidate has less than five full academic years of teaching experience, shall meet one of the following requirements:
  • Pass the Content Knowledge test(s) of the NM Teacher Assessments or predecessor NM teacher licensure examination or accepted comparable licensure test(s) from another State, if available, in technology education, or
  • Successfully complete an undergraduate academic major (24-36 hours) or coursework equivalent to an undergraduate major or a graduate degree in technology education.

Sitting, standing, lifting and carrying (up to 50 lbs.), reaching, squatting, kneeling.

Performance Responsibilities

  • The Domain of Technology: Preparation to teach technology studies/education will result in individuals who can teach others the competencies in basic technology, the relationship between technology and society, technological design, and the skills necessary for a technological world.
  • Introducing basic computer, mobile, keyboard and internet skills.
  • Assign projects so that students learn to deal with real-world constraints such as time and materials.
  • Career Cluster Competencies: Preparation to teach technology studies/education will result in individuals who can teach others the competencies in technology careers:
  • Achieve specific academic knowledge and skills required to pursue the full range of careers and post-secondary education opportunities within technology studies/education.
  • Use oral and written communication skills in creating, expressing and interpreting information and ideas including technical terminology and information within technology.
  • Employ technical communications effectively to maintain good records and reporting procedures.
  • Solve problems using critical thinking skills (e.g., analyze, synthesize, and evaluate) independently and in teams.
  • Use information technology tools to access, manage, integrate and create information.
  • Use leadership skills in collaborating with others to accomplish organizational goals and
