The Role
Within our Institutional Business Development group (“IBD”), we are seeking a dynamic and highly commercial Senior Associate to join the Strategic Accounts team, based in New York. The successful candidate will work closely with and support the Strategic Accounts team to grow Blue Owl’s existing strategic partnerships as well as establish new relationships in conjunction with regional primary sales coverage teams. The ideal candidate is collaborative, technically minded and detail-oriented with an ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and develop creative solutions to address complex client needs. This role requires a highly responsive and client-oriented mindset in working with large and sophisticated global clients. This position provides a unique opportunity to gain exposure to multiple facets of Blue Owl’s business and grow alongside an innovative, rapidly expanding platform.
Responsibilities
- Support the Strategic Accounts team in formulating and executing business plans to deepen and expand existing partnerships through upsizing and cross-selling, as well as establish new relationships with strategic prospects
- Work with the broader IBD team, especially Product & Client Solutions, Client Service, Global Operations, and regional sales coverage teams to deliver best-in-class account management and drive high-quality client engagement
- Lead Salesforce and pipeline management efforts, enacting timely updates which capture all salient Strategic Account developments to ensure situational awareness and coordination across IBD
- Attend virtual and in-person meetings with strategic clients and prospects, including recurring partnership meetings, portfolio updates, sales and ad hoc meetings
- Coordinate and assume responsibility for delivering timely follow ups to strategic client requests in conjunction with the broader IBD team as well as other Blue Owl groups, such as Accounting and Operations, Legal, Compliance, and Investment Teams
- Develop the ability to articulate Blue Owl’s platform, fund strategies, and value propositions in great detail
Qualifications
- BA/BS degree required with strong quantitative skills
- 3-5 years of experience in financial services required (institutional business development and/or client service experience in alternative asset management strongly preferred)
- Exceptional organizational skills and ability to multi-task, prioritize and collaborate across geographically disperse teams while managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to develop rapport and trust with internal stakeholders and external strategic partners
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word required
- Experience with Salesforce or other CRM system preferred
- Experience with Preqin, eVestment, or similar LP-focused data providers a plus
It is expected that the base annual salary range for this New York City-based position will be 125,000 to 155,000. Actual salaries may vary based on factors, such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, based on factors such as individual and team performance.
