An established New England law firm is seeking a Trust & Estate Attorney for an immediate, high-profile trust and estate project. This on-site role involves advising high-net-worth individuals, families, and corporate fiduciaries on complex estate planning matters. Key Responsibilities
- Provide guidance on estate planning, wealth transfer strategies, and trust administration.
- Draft, review, and interpret estate documents, including wills, trusts (revocable, irrevocable, charitable), powers of attorney, and healthcare directives.
- Develop tax planning strategies to minimize estate, gift, and generation-skipping transfer taxes.
- Oversee estate settlement, probate proceedings, and fiduciary compliance.
- Collaborate with paralegals, colleagues, and external advisors to deliver tailored solutions.
- Stay informed on changes in tax laws and trust and estate legislation.
- Maintain strong client relationships through consultations and educational presentations.
Qualifications
- Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Licensing: Licensed to practice law in Rhode Island (or eligible for prompt admission).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in trust and estate planning, administration, and tax-related matters.
- Skills:
- Deep knowledge of federal and state tax laws.
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to manage complex trust and estate cases from start to finish.
- Preferred: LL.M. in Taxation or substantial tax-related experience.
