Community Development Manager
Purpose: The Community Development Manager will support the organization’s mission and vision by exhibiting the following behaviors: excellence and competence, collaboration, innovation, respect, trustworthiness, accountability and commitment to the community. The Community Development Manager will provide professional leadership necessary for Blue Ridge Partnership for Children to achieve the awareness, recognition and ultimately the resources necessary to fulfill our role in the promotion of services to support children from birth through age five, and their families.
Job Description: The CDM will have the following essential duties and responsibilities:
- Developing the Brand: Work with the Board of Directors and Executive Director to develop the story of the organization’s role in shaping the future for young children across the 3-county area. Establish a process to keep the community informed of the organization’s activities and achievements. Manage agency newsletters, social media and agency website as branding and communication tools. Initiate a plan that builds media relationships on a regular basis and actively seek out media opportunities to tell the early childhood story.
Lead staff, business and community champions in sharing the importance of quality early learning experiences, and participate in efforts that highlight BRPFC as a primary hub of collaboration for early childhood services.
- Building Relationships: Strategically build relationships with business and community partners, civic and faith groups. Coordinate and participate in presentations to local groups to communicate the organization’s goals and activities to build public support for early chidhood initiatives. Represent BRPFC at business and community collaborative events and meetings, which may involve occasional nights and weekends.
- Securing Resources: Participate in the creation and planning of fundraising strategies. Provide leadership to ensure fundraising strategies are successfully executed. Work with the Executive Director and Board to identify and recruit volunteer talent for committees, and special initiatives. Utilize established relationships with businesses and other partners to build private sector support for goals of BRPFC. Manage the functions of donor acknowledgement and continued donor communications.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s preferred, with 3-5 years’ experience with nonprofit organization, or a combination of nonprofit and public agency experience. Experience in marketing and communications, with the ability to independently prioritize and manage multiple tasks, including follow-up and timely completion of all projects.
Computer Skills: Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheets, with general desktop publishing and database skills. Ability to effectively and efficiently use email and Internet applications, including social media.
Language and Communication Skills: Strong oral and written skills are key to effectively communicate through reports, newsletters, press releases, correspondence, and presentations. Must be able to deliver professional presentations to small groups, officials and the general public.
Other Job Demands: Essential physical requirements include standing and typing, while occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 pounds. Regular travel across the 3-county region is common, with occasional travel throughout the state for meetings and professional development. Position is based in Newland NC office. Valid driver’s license and dependable personal transportation is required. The position is designed as full-time, and our family-friendly work environment offers group health insurance and retirement benefits, travel expense reimbursement, paid holidays and paid leave. Pay range is $20 - 25/hr.
