Position Summary

Under the direction and supervision of the Chief Human Resources Officer, the Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for providing front-line, operational support in the functions of the Human Resources department, to include :

  • Onboarding
  • Benefits
  • Leaves of absence
  • Compensation
  • HRIS (HR Information System)
  • Performance management
  • Worker’s compensation
  • Training
  • Policy and compliance support
  • Employee records maintenance & official HR correspondence
  • Payroll support in conjunction with the finance department
  • Departmental invoice reconciliation and payment

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as HR department point of contact for employees, managers, applicants, partners, and vendors (i.e. brokers, benefit providers, HRIS provider); referring complex and / or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Serves as department liaison with payroll department.
  • Maintain administrative level access for all HRIS.
  • Schedule and facilitate trainings including new hire orientation.
  • Provide support for employee relations as needed.
  • Maintain up-to-date employee files in compliance with federal and state standards.
  • Review and uphold policies and practices.
  • Analyze employment-related data and prepare required reports.
  • Interpret and explain human resources policies, procedures, laws, standards, or regulations.
  • Maintain and update human resources documents, such as organizational charts, employee handbooks or directories, or performance evaluation forms.
  • Prepare or maintain employment records related to events, such as hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, or promotions, using human resources management system software.
  • Coordinate and track all employee paperwork for new hires.
  • Ensure the confidentiality of all personnel records including salaries, discipline, time off, medical or other information that is in personnel files or discussed in staff meetings or other communication.
  • Participate in continuous learning activities to maintain knowledge and compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations; professional best practices; regulatory changes; trends; and new technology.
  • Maintain and process all Unemployment Notices of Entitlement and potential charges in a timely, efficient manner.
  • Report, maintain and monitor all workers' compensation cases; follow up on open cases.
  • Monitor employee eligibility for benefits plans. Review benefits with employee and processes enrollment, cancellation or changes.
  • Administer COBRA for group health plans.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Participates in HR staff meetings and attends other meetings and workshops as required.
  • Assists with the planning and implementation of various employee events, meetings, and organizational training and development efforts.
  • Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field and a minimum of three years of Human Resource experience or a combination of equivalent education and related HR experience.
  • SHRM-CP or HRCI-PHR certification preferred.
  • ADP experience preferred.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related workplace software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HR information system.
