On a day-to-day basis, this role will perform a variety of routine and non-routine accounting functions and provide administrative and clerical support to all divisions of the company. This is an entry-level position with growth opportunities available once tenure is earned within the department/company.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Set up new jobs in accounting and project management systems.
- Sync job cost and budget updates into relevant systems.
- Verify and post incoming customer payments to ensure accuracy of accounts receivable.
- Reconcile any irregularities in cash receipts and work collaboratively with other accounting staff.
- Review accounting and project-related records, including contracts and change orders.
- Investigate project cost and budget variances and submit reconciliation reports to management
- Create and maintain spreadsheets utilized by the accounting team.
- Assist project management team to compile required information to invoice customers including requesting information and invoices from sub-contractors.
- Maintain polite and professional communication via phone, e-mail, and mail.
- Cross train with other Accounting Team functions providing backup, as necessary.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- High school diploma required or equivalent experience.
- Provide high quality internal/external service using skilled communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented able to multi-task and adapt in a flexible, fast paced, dynamic work environment.
- Exhibit strong work ethic: attention to detail, analytical skill, and ability to solve complex problems.
- Proficiency to work effectively with all levels of the organization, individually and in teams.
- Familiarity with ERP (accounting and project management) systems.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with ability to meet deadlines.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; advanced Excel skills are a plus.
Preferred Knowledge, Experience & Competencies:
- Business Administration, Accounting, or related college degree.
- One to three years of construction accounting experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of Sage 300 CRE (or equivalent), Procore, QuickBase a plus.
Work format:
This position is best suited to a traditional work schedule. Occasional remote work is acceptable with advance approval from the supervisor.
Travel requirements:
- Occasional travel to meetings or events within 50-mile radius of office,
- Occasional travel to various locations requiring an overnight stay.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 10-25 lbs.
- Ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to see well (naturally or with correction).
