Boeing Defense, Space and Security (BDS) seeking a motivated, talented Associate Mechanical Systems Design & Analysis Engineer to join the Philadelphia Design Center (PDC) in Ridley Park, PA. Our team is focused on designing and supporting a wide range of Boeing products across the globe including Vertical Lift Programs, Commercial Aircraft, Defense Fixed Wing Platforms, Satellites, Space Launch Systems, and many others. Position Responsibilities Include:

  • Develops mechanical systems component detail and assembly designs.
  • Analyzes results and performs design reviews.
  • Develops and maintains product detail, assembly and installation designs.
  • Provides engineering design disposition on discrepancies (e.g., rejection tags, production action requests, shop revision requests).
  • Documents processes, specifications and procedures that support the design and manufacture of mechanical system parts and assemblies.
  • Develops basic statements of work.
  • Participates in technical review of supplier capabilities to facilitate source selection.
  • Works under general direction.
  • This position allows telecommuting. The selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry
  • 2 years of experience in mechanical system design or analysis

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the aerospace industry
  • Experience with aircraft or rotorcraft mechanical systems
  • Experience working with CATIA

Experience in one or more of the following:

  • Experience with aircraft or rotorcraft hydraulic system components design, qualification, and requirements – pumps, actuators, valves, etc.
  • Experience with aircraft or rotorcraft fuel system components including design, qualification, and requirements – pumps, valves, fuel bladders, gauging system, etc.
  • Experience with aircraft or rotorcraft ECS system components including design, qualification, and requirements – fans, heat exchangers, avionics cooling, air supply and distribution, sensors, and controls, etc.
  • Experience with aircraft or rotorcraft Engine control system development, integration, and testing
  • Experience with the integration and installation of hydraulic, fuel, and ECS sub-systems and components in aircraft

Typical Education/Experience:

Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
