Job Overview
Boise Acupuncture Co-op (BAC) is the only non-profit community acupuncture clinic in Idaho. We are a high-volume POCA involved community acupuncture clinic, striving to offer effective, affordable, and accessible acupuncture to the Treasure Valley and beyond. We are currently made up of 3 full-time acupunks, 1 full-time bookkeeper & front desk coordinator, 1 part-time receptionist, and a dozen volunteers. We see around 200 patients per week from a diverse array of backgrounds and seeking care for a diverse array of reasons. We pride ourselves on approaching treatment from a trauma-informed lens and acknowledging the institutional, cultural, environmental, spiritual and personal root causes of dis-ease. We organize and govern with a sociocratic model to embody the values of community, equality, accountability and transparency.
Front Desk Tasks:
- Be welcoming and inclusive to all patients who enter the clinic and answer inquiries with accurate responses or referrals.
- Accomplish all check-in and check-out functions in a courteous, amiable and efficient manner. Take payments through Clover and Square. Schedule patients future appointments..
- Answer phone and make reminder calls to patients.
- Introduce new patients to the clinic so they know how to best utilize our space and services.
- Address stressful or emergency situations with composure and solution first mind set.
- Compassionately hold BAC policies and boundaries with patients and represent BAC’s vision and mission.
- Show the procedures for the Sauna to clients and take payment.
- Communicate with co-workers through Trello and email.
- Communicate with volunteers through google chat.
- Manage and complete Module work.
- Work 3 or 4, 4-hour shifts per week.
- Attend Employee meetings when you can this is not mandatory.
Qualities:
- Attention to details: recording payments and scheduling patients can get busy. Keeping mindful of the details and having methods for managing busy times helps.
- Promptness/timeliness: Be on time for shift. Give advance notice (at least 1-2 weeks ahead) of absence and always try to find a replacement.
- Computer savvy: Have a working understanding of google drive, be willing to check email in off work hours, and learn our scheduling software.
- Confidentiality: Patient discretion when they share personal experiences. Refer to punk when acupuncture procedures relating to conditions are asked and require more than simple answers.
- Be a team player: At BAC, what is best for the whole, is best for the individual. We use sociocracy to govern and make decisions, we all have a voice and must work together to move forward in our mission.
- Compassion for patients, inclusivity, & trauma informed care: We see people from varied socioeconomic, racial and cultural backgrounds. We see folks with varied physical and mental ability, histories of trauma, and diverse identities. Everyone has their story, they are here because they are in need. Assume everyone is dealing with trauma. Treat with sensitivity and care, be culturally sensitive, affirm peoples identities.
