Mechanical Assistant (Warehouse Helper): This career-track role assists highly skilled HVAC Service Engineers and Apprentices, and is intended to develop the knowledge, skills and abilities required for entrance into the UA Mechanical Trades School apprenticeship program.
* Able to work in Lanham, MD Warehouse
Essential Duties:
- Perform refrigerant recovery on returned refrigerants to the warehouse
- Maintain all tools, equipment, rigging, and machinery in good and safe working order
- Maintain all warehouse vehicles in good working and safe condition
- Deliver parts, equipment, and machinery to all Service Engineers and Apprentices as instructed
- Support Service Engineers and Apprentices on job sites as instructed
- Keep warehouse clean and orderly at all times
- Maintain tool supply cages, work bench area and overall work space in an orderly fashion
- Maintain solvent recovery station, logging solvents, and clean up of area
- Notify managers of supplies that are needed to maintain adequate inventory for warehouse
- Available to work on-call, as required
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent experience and education
- Must have a valid driver's license and excellent driving record
- Knowledgeable with computers and smart phones
- Able to work well independently and in a team environment, values safety and is genuinely interested in HVAC trade
- Consistently punctual, self-starter, motivated, respectful, proactive, task oriented
- Mechanical experience and experience in technical industry is a plus
Physical Requirements:
- Valid driver's license & excellent driving record required
- Frequent visits to job sites
- Being able to stand and kneel for long periods of time, also be capable of lifting 100lbs frequently
- Being able to work indoor and outdoor through all seasonal changes
