Safety Officer

Key responsibilities of a trucking safety officer:

• Compliance Management:
• Monitor driver qualification files to ensure compliance with DOT regulations regarding licenses, medical certifications, and driving records.
• Conduct random drug and alcohol testing as per DOT guidelines.
• Oversee hours of service logs to ensure drivers adhere to legal limits.
• Review vehicle inspection reports (DVIRs) to identify maintenance issues.
• Safety Training and Education:
• Develop and deliver comprehensive safety training programs for new and existing drivers on topics like defensive driving, hazard recognition, and emergency procedures.
• Conduct regular safety meetings and workshops to reinforce safety practices.
• Provide training on new safety policies and procedures.
• Accident Investigation and Reporting:
• Investigate all accidents and near-misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Analyze accident data to identify trends and implement preventive measures.
• Prepare detailed reports on accidents for internal and regulatory purposes.
• Performance Monitoring:
• Track driver safety performance metrics such as accident rates, speeding violations, and CSA scores.
• Identify high-risk drivers and provide targeted training or coaching.
• Conduct performance reviews with drivers regarding safety compliance.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40.00 - $50.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
