Our internship program is designed to give students a well rounded experience in Healthcare Management.  


Status: Temporary, Part-Time Without Benefits

Shift: Days with occasional evening or weekend hours.

Shift Time Schedule: Dependent on student schedule

Days: Dependent on student schedule

This is a 120-hour internship, background check required.

Salary range: $15.00/hour


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Administration Intern will work with Boone County Hospital administration team as well as other departments to develop and understand healthcare management. The Administration Intern will perform office duties and other small projects as determined and directed by The Administrative Team and Human Resources Director. The Administration Intern provided non-clinical support and completes project work at Boone County Hospital to gain perspective of operations with the goal of future work in healthcare administration.

Boone County Hospital is committed to following all federal guidelines related to privacy and security. All employees will be held to the highest standard of confidentiality, and will be required to annually sign an employee confidentiality agreement that outlines the rules and expectation for every BCH employee. Failure to abide by these guidelines could lead to disciplinary action including termination.

Security Access: High Incumbent has access to restricted or confidential patient information and must comply with the terms of the BCH privacy & security policies as it applies to their job.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Works alongside BCH Administrative Team to understand healthcare administration.
  • Participates in scheduled supervision and administrative team meetings.
  • Collaborates with team members.
  • Responding to calls/emails from prospective clients.
  • Keep records and reports up to date.
  • Manage data in spreadsheets and reports.
  • Accepts other responsibilities as necessary to meet organizational goals.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Qualifications: Must possess the ability to:
    • High degree of organizational skill and problem-solving ability.
    • Resourcefulness in finding information and answers from within and outside the organization.
    • The ability to execute accurately at a high level without excess supervision.
    • General computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Education/Certifications: Must be a student currently enrolled in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, or a closely related field.
  • Desired Work Traits: Must possess strong and effective interpersonal communication & listening skills to work well with a diverse work force. Must be motivated, upbeat, and willing to learn. Must be able to maintain excellent staff relations and employee morale. Must be able to juggle multiple projects and deadlines at once.
