What are the responsibilities and job description for the Transportation Manager position at Borden-Henryville School Corporation?
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Review and optimize bus routes and stops for safety and efficiency
- May assign bus drivers for extracurricular and non- regular routes
- Assist school staff and drivers with transportation-related concerns
- Recruit transportation personnel
- Train driver candidates in compliance and Indiana Law
- Conduct driver training and enforce safety procedures
- Monitor and support special needs students on transportation services
- Maintain effective communication with parents, staff, and school personnel
LICENSE / QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Must be 21 years of age
- Possess and maintain a valid CDL License with all required school bus endorsements
- Minimum of 2 years experience as a school bus driver
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Knowledge of school transportation laws and best practices
- Ability to communicate effectively and resolve conflicts
- Experience in supervising staff and managing daily transportation operations
- Possess and maintain a valid State of Indiana School Bus Certificate (Yellow) Card.
- Working knowledge of the corporation’s geographic layout and boundaries
- Able to work with and understand children
- Confidentiality, Trustworthiness, self-motivation, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently and patiently under pressure and stressful situations.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism at all times
- Participates in required random drug/alcohol testing program
- Willingness to improve and/or develop job-related skills
- Excellent work habits, attendance record, and must successfully complete and pass all criminal history checks
